Swim team

Bonnie and Riser tried the swim team for the first time this year. They were on the Wellington Waves (the closest team to us), but they did the 'Little Waves' program for the kids that weren't able to swim across the pool and compete in meets yet.

They had fun, made progress on their swimming, and enjoyed pancake breakfasts on Tuesday. By the end of the season Bonnie was swimming across the pool and is excited to participate in meets next year. Riser is still a work in progress and has a lot to learn before he can join the official team, but has fun doing it!

At the end of the season, they have a meet just for the Little Waves. The kids had only been practicing in the shallow end (not the lap lanes) all season, so it's a chance for them to see how far they can get in the lap lanes. The coaches are there to help them along when they need it. It was very cute and fun for them to get an idea of how a meet runs.

See if you can spot Riser waiting in the chairs in the video below. The energy that courses through him is nonstop.

They had a great season and say they want to do it again next year!

Quickball

Now that Riser is 4 he is old enough to start trying out some sports! He had some friends signed up for quickball (beginner teeball) so that's what he did for the Spring season. He was very excited and his first practice happened to land on his birthday.

Stretching:

Learning to bat:

All his new gear:

After a few weeks of practice it was game time. Riser's team was the Atlanta Braves.

Stopping to chat with a friend on 1st base.

It was fun for Bonnie to experience being on the sidelines and cheering on her brother!

He requested the number 4 since he just turned 4 years old.

It was amazing to see the progress from the beginning of the season. None of the boys knew anything about baseball so it was a circus trying to get them to run the bases in order, learn to drop the bat before running, and learning what to do when they fielded the ball. They learned so much!

Always stopping to chat.

Riser playing 1st.

Riser was thrilled he got an actual trophy at the end of the season.

It was a great season! We are going to try some other sports but he says he would like to do it again.

Gymnastics

Bonnie started gymnastics last Fall, continued throughout the winter and just finished up last month. She said she enjoyed it and would like to do it again (although she says that about pretty much anything she does). It took a lot of strength and hard work, she often would be sweating by the end of it. It was a fun experience!
