Spring Catch-up

Spring is here and has been gracing us with some warmer days. We have thoroughly enjoyed having some downtime finally! We've mostly been taking advantage of not being super busy, but I figured I'd do a quick catch-up on some of the things we've been up to since being home.

We found out my sister-in-law and her husband celebrate Nowruz (Persian New Year) at the beginning of Spring. Even though they're on the other side of the country, we thought it would be fun to celebrate with them in spirit! We had fun researching the holiday and how it is traditionally celebrated.

One of the main traditions is having a table that focuses around the seven S's (in Farsi). A rough translation includes: sumac, vinegar, dried fruit, sprouts, pudding, apple, and garlic. We didn't exactly have everything, but we came up with our best representation.

It was fun to learn about another tradition and be able to celebrate with family from afar :)

The first weekend of Spring we had some really nice weather, so Eric's parents came to meet up with us and go see Fort Hunt Park.

There's so much history in this area to explore.

Jones Point Park was also very close and recently became one of our favorite local parks, so we had to make a stop there on our way back.

Randomly a couple weeks ago, Eric and I were heading out to run a couple errands and we noticed a fire across the street (no one lives there).

It took us a minute to even register that there was actually a FIRE and it was starting to spread across the fence line. A couple neighbors were out and called the fire department. Eric ran to get a bucket of water.

Luckily it was already out by the time the fire department arrived!

Last weekend, we decided to take a trip into D.C. to see the cherry blossoms before they were gone.

It's always great to spend time in D.C. and visit the memorials.

Such a beautiful day!

The cherry blossoms peaked the week before we were there. It had been pretty windy for a few days and they were already starting to fall, but they were still beautiful.

We also found out that there is an inscription on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I have a dream" speech. We have been there so many times and never knew/saw it!

Winter flew by for us this year and we are loving the warmer weather already!
