York River State Park

Last weekend we went to York River State Park. We had never been before but it's actually fairly close to us. It is a beautiful park with lots of trails to explore. We could definitely go back and spend more time.

It was such a fun morning, but it sure does take us quite a bit longer to do a hike with a little one in tow!

Visit to Grandma's

Bonnie and I didn't have much planned last week so we decided to go visit Grandma and Dave's house for a little getaway. But before we left, we got to see Katie for her birthday on Monday. I am so so thankful we live so close! Happy birthday!

We left Tuesday morning and were in the pool pretty quickly. It was perfect pool weather all week.

Bonnie walked right in and just kept going down the steps until she was floating. Then she would float back over to the steps and walk back up, then do it all over again.

We love visiting Grandma and Dave's house!

Bonnie picked (and ate) tons of tomatoes while we were there.

She did lots of cuddling with Grandma which was so sweet.

She got to feed Maggie, and loved watching her eat all her meals.

We went for a walk by the river.

Grandma showed B how to water the flowers.

And the pool.

They collected eggs from the chicken coop.

Bonnie chased the chickens back to their coop.

We got to see horses (a favorite for B right now). She's a big animal lover if that isn't obvious enough.

And she loved riding around in Grandma's "boat" with her.

We went to get ice cream one hot day after lunch, which was so delicious!

We both were able to take naps.

Eric showed up on Thursday for dinner and a night swim after Bonnie was in bed. It was so fun swimming at night!

And we had a pretty good hand and foot battle.

We spent all Friday morning in the pool until lunch.

Then it was time to say goodbye. Thank you so much for having us again! It was such a fun visit. There is always so much to do and a great way to just getaway for a mini vacation, plus the company can't be beat.

Bonnie gets a black eye

Last weekend we had a cookout with our small group. All was going well, the kids were having a great time playing together.

Until Bonnie tried to lean against a tablecloth (not knowing there was nothing solid underneath) and fell into a solid wooden chair. Unfortunately, her face broke her fall. Immediately, her eye started swelling up.

We tried to put some ice on it and give her some medicine to help with the swelling. Her favorite song, The wheels on the bus, helped calm her down and ice cream brought her spirits back up.

The next morning it was pretty swollen and just looked so painful. We tried to keep the swelling at bay with medicine and an ointment a friend recommended. It seemed to help and she didn't seem to be bothered except if we had to touch it.

Thankfully after about 2 days the swelling and pain seemed to go away and we were just left with a purple bruise.

It's now been a week and it's just about completely gone except for a small bruise under her eye. This was definitely the worst injury we've experience as parents so far. It was so scary and hard to see her in pain, I'm just so thankful it healed quickly. She's a tough girl!
