Weekend in Richmond

This past weekend we spent our very first night away from Bonnie (since her birth)! It was a big deal for us. With our anniversary in February, Katie graciously offered and encouraged us to get away. We kept dragging our feet on it not wanting to leave B, but finally decided to pull the trigger and booked a hotel room in Richmond.

We dropped B off on Saturday morning, stopped for coffee and hit the road!

We went to a place called Hotel Greene for brunch and mini golf.

The miniature golf course runs through a recreation of the old hotel including a library, bath house, guest rooms, hallways, and more. It was a very fun place to explore.

After mini golf we checked into our hotel. The hotel was within distance of a large outdoor mall so we decided to walk around a little before dinner.

For dinner we went to a small Italian restaurant that turned out to be so good! Needless to say we were very full when we left.

That night we went to the hotel's indoor pool/hot tub which was very enjoyable.

It was such a relaxing night and the first time since Bonnie has been born that we've both been able to sleep in. It was absolutely wonderful.

On Sunday we took our time in the morning making coffee, packing up to check out, and getting breakfast. Then we headed to Maymont, a large Victorian estate/public park.

The weather was gorgeous, in the 60s and sunny.

There was so much to explore! We could have spent all day there.

It pretty much had it's own small zoo as well, with lots of different animals to see.

We had such a fun time but we were also really missing our girl and it was time to head home. On the way out of the city we happened to pass by The Doorways, where we were offered a place to stay while Bonnie was in the NICU.

We also passed the NICU! I spent so much time looking outside one of those windows thinking how strange it felt that life was continuing to go on outside those walls while we were in there. I'm so thankful we now have such better memories of that time - such a bonding experience.

And with that, we couldn't wait to pick up our girl! She obviously was in incredible hands and had so much fun while we were away. We are SO thankful for having family nearby.

But it sure is good to have her back! Thank you so much Katie and Chris for taking care of her!
