Road Trip Part 4 - Mount Rushmore & Badlands

I promise I am wrapping up these posts! Once we left Yellowstone we had a beautiful drive through Bighorn National Forest. Wyoming in general was a beautiful state to drive through. The next few pictures are of some of the crazy weather we had and our view along the way.

We made it to South Dakota!

Mount Rushmore was our first stop in SD.

It was more amazing than we expected to see in person!

I can't imagine sculpting something so intricate on such a large scale.

Fun fact - Thomas Jefferson invented ice cream!

Once we were back on the road, we also decided to stop at Wall Drug, one of the world's most well-known tourist attractions. It's basically a gigantic drug store that has anything you could possibly imagine.

It was a nice little pit stop for a free donut and coffee before getting back on the road.

From there we weren't far from Badlands National Park.

This was another breath-taking place to drive through. We saw more bison, bighorn sheep, tons of prairie dogs, and gorgeous views of canyons and prairies. Another place we could have spent more time!

That was the last big stop we had planned. The rest of the trip we knew we would be driving longer stretches as we got closer to the east coast. Only one more post to come - from South Dakota to Virginia!
