Bonnie has been asking about snow for two solid years. The last time she saw snow she was around Riser's age and doesn't remember it at all. Mom let me know they were expecting a couple inches overnight. Thankfully we had nothing pressing on the schedule so we packed up and I drove the kids up on a Friday afternoon. I didn't tell them we might see snow, in case it didn't work out. But they are always excited for Grandma's house!
They helped collect fire wood, made pizzas, and had fun playing that evening.
The next morning as soon as Bonnie saw the snow outside she got a big smile on her face and said "I've been waiting years for this!"After breakfast we quickly layered the kids up and went outside. They both reacted exactly as I expected. Bonnie was rolling around in the snow making snow angels faster than I could even get a picture of her. And Riser hated just about every minute of it. The gloves, the hats, the layers, the cold, the wet - he wanted to be removed from the situation immediately.
We made snow angels, built snowmen, ran all around the property, 'cleaned' snow off their equipment, and wrote Bonnie's name really big in their yard. It was so much fun!
We finally came in to join the others and have lunch before it was time to go back home. A short but wonderful visit! Thank you for letting us come so spontaneously!
