Exploring San Diego - Birch Aquarium

Eric and I were trying to think of something fun for our first anniversary - maybe a trip to Mexico, camping, a weekend trip to Palm Springs, a weekend trip to anywhere around us (Santa Monica, Joshua Tree, Julian)?? Well, it crept up on us quickly and with all the busyness of life, we found ourselves scrambling the night before just to try and make a reservation to eat somewhere.

Thankfully, there is so much to do and so many places to explore locally that we didn't need to get away to find a beautiful place to celebrate.

We went to George's in La Jolla for lunch, with gorgeous ocean views.

The food was great, and the company was even better.

After lunch we took a little walk around La Jolla, before heading to Birch Aquarium!

They had a kelp show where they talked all about the importance of kelp, which was actually pretty interesting. Did you know kelp is in most toothpastes?

It also featured two scuba divers washing windows and feeding the fish.

The view from the Aquarium was also beautiful.

We had such a fun day and are so thankful we live in a place that is pretty easy to come up with awesome things to do on such short notice! However I do still want to plan that Mexico trip :)
