Thanksgiving

We went up to visit my mom and brother for Thanksgiving this year, and it was so nice! Dave was away on travel and Katie was with her in-laws so it was very low-key and nice to get some one-on-one time with them.

We got there Wednesday around dinnertime and Bonnie immediately wanted to play ball with Maggie. We had a delicious dinner and got B settled for bed. Of course we ended up playing some cards after.

Thanksgiving morning B was so excited to feed all the animals. First, the fish.

Then, Maggie. She loved watching Maggie eat all her meals.

And finally, the chickens! She was in animal heaven.

We watched some of the Thanksgiving Day parade during breakfast. The weather was so gorgeous all day. We had to go kick our annual field goals.

After kicking, we took a few family photos.

Then it was time to get cooking!

Birdie loved helping Grandma in the kitchen.

Mom made an impressive spread, as usual. The turkey turned out fantastic.

I am so thankful for these people! What a wonderful feast.

After Bonnie was in bed, the games and desserts came out. Holiday hand-and-foot, and codenames. We went to sleep with full bellies and happy hearts.

B helped Grandma make pancakes the next morning.

This was such a wonderful day we didn't even know we needed. It was nothing but relaxing. We played tons of cards and games, rested, ate leftovers, drank hot drinks, and enjoyed each other's company. And bonus that Bonnie slept really well the whole time we were there.

We played pool and took naps in the basement in front of the fire. And later that night we all watched a movie together. It was the most relaxing day I've had in a long time.

Saturday morning we took a walk around the property, played another game, and had some turkey sandwiches for lunch before we had to hit the road.

It truly was such a wonderful low-key visit and we loved every minute of it! We have so many things to be grateful for this year, especially all the wonderful people in our lives. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
